The group pricing ladder

The price per person falls as the group grows, because the guide, vehicles and permit work are shared. Solo it is 1,380 USD. Two or three travellers pay 1,150 USD each, four to six pay 1,080 USD, and seven or more pay 1,010 USD. The route and the acclimatisation days are identical in every tier.

What is inside the price

Two nights in a three-star Kathmandu hotel and one in Pokhara, with breakfast. Twelve nights in twin-share guesthouses on the trail, with breakfast, lunch and dinner each day, tea or coffee with every meal and fruit after dinner. Purified drinking water on the trail, all airport and road transfers (private vehicle from Kathmandu to Dharapani and from Birethanti to Pokhara, a shared jeep or bus from Muktinath to Tatopani, and a tourist bus back to Kathmandu), the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit and the TIMS card. You also get a licensed English-speaking guide, one porter for every two trekkers, a medical kit with an oximeter, a down jacket and sleeping bag on loan, a duffel, a map, a cap and a T-shirt, plus a farewell dinner. All government taxes and service charges are included.

What you will still pay for

Lunch and dinner in Kathmandu and Pokhara, international flights, the visa, and your own travel insurance, which must include high-altitude evacuation cover because the route crosses Thorong La at 5,416 m. On the trail, drinks other than the included tea or coffee, and tips for the guide, porter and driver, are extra. In the highest villages a dormitory room is occasionally the only bed, so a private room is not guaranteed on every night.

Comfort and luxury tiers

The standard price is what most people book. The comfort tier adds roughly 18 percent, about 1,357 USD each for a pair, for the best lodge in each village and a four-star Kathmandu hotel. The luxury tier adds roughly 45 percent, about 1,668 USD each for a pair, for premium lodges where they exist, a five-star hotel and an extra porter.

Is it good value?

Two things make the circuit cost more than a short trek: its length, and the fact that it ends in Pokhara with a bus back, so the transport is more involved. If you want a shorter, cheaper way into the Annapurnas, look at the Annapurna Base Camp Trek, and read our complete Annapurna Circuit guide before you decide.
