The group pricing ladder

Every trek we run is private, so the price per person drops as your group grows. Travelling solo it is 1,280 USD. For two or three people it is 1,065 USD each, for four to six it is 1,000 USD, and for seven or more it is 935 USD. The route, the guide and the porter ratio stay the same in every tier. What changes is how the fixed costs, like the guide, the vehicles and the permit handling, are shared between you.

What is inside the price

Two nights in a three-star Kathmandu hotel and two nights in a lakeside Pokhara hotel, with breakfast, all on twin-share rooms. Eight nights in the best available twin-share lodge on the trail, with breakfast, lunch and dinner every day, plus tea or coffee up to three times a day and fresh fruit after dinner. The tourist bus between Kathmandu and Pokhara both ways, private vehicles from Pokhara to the trailhead and back, your Annapurna Conservation Area Permit, and a licensed English-speaking guide. There is one porter for every two trekkers, and we cover all staff wages, food, gear and insurance. A down jacket and sleeping bag are on loan for the trek, and you get a 70-litre duffel, a trek map, a cap and a T-shirt. Government taxes and service charges are already in the number.

What you will still pay for

Lunch and dinner in Kathmandu and Pokhara, your international flights, the Nepal entry visa and your own travel insurance sit outside the price. On the trail, hot showers, bottled and soft drinks, phone charging and wifi are paid for as you go, and so are tips for your guide, porter and driver. Budget a little extra for snacks and desserts too. A trek with a big climb to 4,130 m makes you hungry.

Choosing a comfort tier

The standard price buys clean, friendly lodges and a three-star Kathmandu hotel, which is what most people book. The comfort tier adds roughly 18 percent for the best lodge in each village, private bathrooms where they exist and a four-star hotel. For a pair that works out at about 1,257 USD each. The luxury tier adds roughly 45 percent, for premium lodges, a five-star hotel, an extra porter and private transfers, about 1,544 USD each for a pair. None of it changes the route or the schedule.

How this compares with Everest Base Camp

Annapurna Base Camp is the cheaper of the two big base camp treks and it needs no flight into the mountains, because you drive or take the bus to the trailhead. If you are weighing the two, our Everest Base Camp vs Annapurna Base Camp guide goes through the differences, and the Everest Base Camp cost breakdown shows the other side of the budget.
