Overview
The bridge at Kushma spans the Kali Gandaki gorge at 228 m above the river, which makes the jump there among the highest bungee jumps anywhere and the highest in Asia. The gorge itself is the deepest in the world by some measures, cut between Dhaulagiri and Annapurna.
There are two ways off the bridge. The bungee is a head first free fall on an elastic cord. The swing is a pendulum, harder to describe and by most accounts the more frightening of the two, because the drop is longer before the arc catches you.
You can do one or both. The price covers one activity, and adding the second is cheaper than booking it separately.
Trip highlights
- 228 m from the deck to the river, the highest bungee in Asia
- The choice of a bungee jump or the giant swing, or both
- The Kali Gandaki gorge between Dhaulagiri and Annapurna
- Two hours from Pokhara, so it fits in a single day
- Operates year round, since the gorge is sheltered
Day by day
The itinerary
-
Day 1: Pokhara to Kushma, jump, and back 1,000 m 9 to 10 hours door to door hrs Lunch
Pick up from your Pokhara hotel at about 7am and roughly two hours west along the Baglung Highway to Kushma.
Registration and weigh in
Every jumper is weighed, because the cord is matched to body weight. You will sign a liability waiver, and you should actually read it.
The briefing
Harness fitting, the ankle attachment for the bungee, and a walk through what happens on the deck. The staff will not rush you.
The jump
Out along the suspension bridge to the platform at the middle of the span. From there it is 228 m down to the Kali Gandaki. The bungee is a head first dive. The swing starts with a free fall and then arcs out along the gorge, and it lasts longer.
Then you are winched or lowered back up, and that is that.
Plenty of people get to the deck, look down and decide not to jump. That is a perfectly normal outcome and nobody at Kushma will give you a hard time about it, though the activity fee is not refundable once you are on the bridge.
Lunch at the site, then back to Pokhara by mid to late afternoon.

Know before you go
Suitability & requirements
- ⚠ Prakash: confirm the operator's name, their current activity prices, the exact weight and age limits and their insurance position here before this page goes public. The USD 55 add on figure is my estimate, not a quoted rate.
Weight limits apply, usually about 45 kg minimum and 100 kg maximum, and the minimum age is 18 for the bungee.
You cannot jump with a heart condition, high blood pressure, epilepsy, a neurological condition, any recent fracture or dislocation, a spinal or neck injury, an eye condition such as recent retinal surgery, or during pregnancy. This is not a formality. Tell us in advance and we will put you on the swing, or on a different day out entirely, rather than have you turned away at the weigh in.
The activity fee is not refundable once you are on the bridge, whether or not you jump. We would rather say that clearly now than have it be a surprise.

Weather
What to expect, month by month
- Autumn (Sep–Nov)The most reliable trekking season: clear air, stable weather and cold nights, right after the monsoon clears.
- Monsoon (Jun–Aug)Wet and cloudy on most routes, though Mustang and Dolpo sit in the rain shadow behind the main range and stay walkable.
- Spring (Mar–May)Warmer than autumn, with rhododendron forests in flower and slightly hazier mountain views as the season goes on.
- Winter (Dec–Feb)Cold and quiet, with the clearest skies of the year at lower altitude. High passes and very high routes are best avoided.
